1. INTRODUCTION
It is the happiest day of my life!
The phrase coach Togo Renan Soares, "Kanela" thrilled and euphoric surrounded by players on the court, gives an idea of what happened on January 31, 1959 at the National Stadium in Santiago, Chile.
51 years ago, the Brazilian basketball reached the top. The undisputable victory over Chile, by 73 to 49, made the home fans to surrender to the new world champions. "He was consecrated a generation of superstars who also won the championship four years later, not to mention the Olympic bronze in 1960 and 1964."
